Building a Man-To-Man Defense (The Art & Science of Coaching Series)
Building a Man-To-Man Defense (The Art & Science of Coaching Series)
by Bob Huggins

A few months a go this book showed up in the basketball book top ten, it is an excellent book on building a man-to-man defense. After explaining the philosophy behind this particular defense, in short the get the ball to the sideline and then keep it there, the defense is broken down in more than 100 separate drills.

If you want to teach a man-to-man defense where the ball is forced to the sideline it is almost a must, for other types of defense it will show how to build up a defense but do adjust the drills to what you want to achieve. Also learned a new English word ‘swiveling’

cover Coaching Basketball
by Jerry Krause (Editor), Ralph Pim (Editor)

Lots of contributions from the best coaches. Pleasant to read and with the information I was looking for.
Subjects range form one to one offense to the triangle and two defense. All in all a great book to have as a coach. (Review based on previous release)

FIVE-STAR Basketball Drills FIVE-STAR Basketball Drills
Edited by Howard Garfinkel

Although the color of the book and the pictures are from a few years back the contents of this book is excellent. Five Star Basketball Drills is a book full of drills, starting with stretching and going from one on one to three on three and covers fundamentals from dribbling to big man play.
The drills are from top coaches who are introduced first, which is nice background information, and then followed with a number of their favorite drills. Each of the 131 drills is described in detail and complemented with diagrams. Most of the drills are for 2 to 4 persons, but can adapted easily for more players, don't forget to use all the baskets on your practice floor.

cover Basketball Skills and Drills
Jerry V.Krause / Don Meyer / Jerry Meyer

At this moment it is the best book on basketball fundamentals I have. Individual skills are very well described, with pictures, diagrams and example practices. As a coach I like the Critical Cue notes at the side of the page, these are very handy to refresh your teaching points before practice.
