Playname: 2nd pass options

2nd Pass Options -
=============
3 has four passing options for the 2nd pass:
a) Direct pass to the Mid Post
b) Pass to the corner.
c) Pass out to the point.
d) Pass to the weak wing cutting to the strong side high post (back-door play).

2nd Pass Options -
a) Direct Pass to Mid Post
===================
On the pass from 3 to 5, 1 speed cuts to the basket looking for the drop pass.
3 reads his defense, D3.  If D3 collapses on to the Mid Post, 3 fans to the corner for the return pass from the Mid Post, 5.
2 screens down for the Weak Wing, 4.  2 also reads his defense. If he can beat his man and cut to the basket rather than screen, he does so.
After 3 passes to 5, 3 could also screen away for 2 or 4 as in option (b) Pass to the corner.

2nd Pass Options -
b) Pass to the corner
===================
After the pass from 3 to 1, 3 screens away for 2.
1 looks immediately at 5 who may be able to trap his defender on the high side.  If so, 1 passes to 5 on the baseline side and 5 executes a low post power move to the basket.
1 then looks for 2 coming off the screen.
2 should immediately look inside at 5 who may have trapped his defender on the baseline side and is now open for a pass down the middle.

2nd Pass Options -
c) Pass out to the point
===================
3 passes to 2 and screens away for 1.
4 cuts to the Pinch Post Spot.
2 has to make a fast decision as to the BEST pass that will lead to a score. Pass to 1 for a jump shot, 4 for the Pinch Post play or to 5 straight down the middle.

2nd Pass Options -
d) Pass to the weak wing cutting to the strong side high post (back-door play).
=================================
4 has noted that the defense is playing tight on 2 and 1 preventing the pass from 3.  4 cuts hard to the strong side pinch post (high post) spot and receives the pass from 3.
2 then back cuts hard to the basket for the backdoor pass.
3 screens away for 1.
4 has to make a fast decision as to which is the BEST pass that will lead to a score.... Pass to 2 for the backdoor, pass to 1 for the jump shot or pass to 5 down the middle.
